Here are your Atlanta Jazz Notes event listings for the week of January 9th, 2022:


Sunday, January 9th - The dynamic vocalist Greg Robbins will perform with drummer Larry Wilson, guitarist Patrick Arthur and Nashville-based organist Ty Bailie at the Velvet Note in Alpharetta. 7PM to 10:30PM.


Monday, January 10th - The TEN ATL jam session in East Atlanta is the place to be on Monday nights. The music goes from 9 until midnight and features a host of great jazz musicians in Atlanta. 495 Flat Shoals Ave SE, Atlanta


Tuesday, January 11th - Joe Gransden Quintet will perform at Roaring Social in Alpharetta. 35 Milton Ave. Alpharetta.


Wednesday, January 12th - After a nearly two-year pause brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Venkman’s Jazz Jam with Joe Gransden will return this evening. Featuring the great trumpeter and vocalist along with a house rhythm section of pianist Tyrone Jackson, bassist Craig Shaw, and drummer Chris Burroughs. All musicians are welcome to sit in. 740 Ralph McGill Blvd. NE.


Also on Wednesday, bring your proof of vaccination and face mask, and head to Red Light Cafe for the weekly jam session led by the great trumpeter and educator Gordon Vernick. This is one of the best jazz jam sessions in town. You can hear many of the jazz voices of tomorrow in addition to established veterans. 9 to midnight. 553-1 Amsterdam Ave NE, Atlanta.


Thursday, January 13th - Joe Gransden and Kenny Banks will perform at Ray’s on the River from 6:30 to 9:30PM. 6700 Powers Ferry Rd. Sandy Springs.


Friday, January 14th - The incredible trumpeter Sean Jones will perform with the Georgia State University jazz band led by another great trumpeter Dr. Gordon Vernick and special guest conductor David Pastor. 8PM at the Rialto Center for the Arts. 80 Forsyth St. NW.


Saturday, January 15th - Vocalist Natasha Brown will perform with pianist Louis Heriveaux, bassist Craig Shaw, and drummer Dave Potter at The Velvet Note. 4075 Old Milton Pkwy. Alpharetta.
